Has anyone found a decent one that works well? Or should I save my time and just get a proper scanner tool?

Cheers guys

I find that it depends on what you’re using it for. The ELM adapters are good if you’re just using a phone to see some basic stats. They also make a wired USB version (never had much luck with that one due to drivers on Windows).

If you’re looking for a flashing tool, use something made for your car.

I use an Etekcity with DashCommand for iOS. Depending on the model of car, it does a decent job of reading codes, reading data, and data logging.

What do you want an OBD reader for? If it's just to clear codes, a real code reader is probably better. If it's for realtime data, get a wifi reader.

I’d just grab a cheap ELM327 Bluetooth adapter off of Amazon. In fact I did. The first one I ordered didn’t work, but returned that and grabbed a different one and was good. They are much cheaper than a dedicated adapter, and more versatile, though they can be a bit flaky.

I have an ELM327 (or whatever the numbers are) and Torque Pro on my phone, it works for what I ask it to do.
